Introduction

A Master Principal understands that successful school leadership revolves around having a common mission and vision. It is imperative that faculty, staff and the administrative team know as clearly a possible the direction they are headed as school leaders Whether involved in a school change process/school reform initiative or an annual school improvement process, setting an overall mission and vision is essential. The general over arching themes enables the team to develop specific goals and objectives that act as a road map to getting the work done. To assist in that process a Master Principal understand that the development of resources for the school is essential. Financial resources, community based supports, volunteers, and alumni provide invaluable resources that make the vision a reality.

The more resources that are brought to bear in the school the more tools that are given to staff to successfully complete both long term and short term goals. The comprehensive urban high school experience is bigger than just the classroom. It is expected that students will be involved in sports, extra curricular clubs and organizations. It is critical that their are sufficient resources that can support the comprehensive nature of the school community that is being served.
